Happy Birthday America!
I am one lucky girl ... I got to spend a whole week at the cabin celebrating the 4th of July! We had so much fun!
My FAVORITE new thing to do at the cabin is play in the water! I especially liked playing on and jumping off of this big "fun island!"
Here's the whole family on the "fun island" and in the lake.
Teague even got in the lake a little bit. He liked the water but not as much as his own personal pool (aka - the duck)!
So while I was jumping off the "fun island" and splashing in the lake, Teague was splashing around in his little ducky!
And of course, no cabin trip would be complete without boat rides! I really liked being on the speed boat!
Teague did too ... in fact, he slept almost every time he got on the boat!
One of the coolest things about boating is being able to "dock" anywhere in the lake and go swimming!
Another lake activity that occurs EVERY time we're at the cabin is fishing! My Daddy and Uncle Philly love to fish, so they let me "play" with one of their bait fish. I put him in a glass bowl and named him Tutti-Fruitti. I chose that name because he had rainbow colored stripes on his tummy.
Shockingly, I am not afraid of fish, frogs, or worms. I had NO problem holding this little guy and yet Mom jumped off the couch when I came in holding him. I just can't understand why she doesn't want to hold Tutti-Fruitti?!
Something new that I enjoyed this year was the Nisswa turtle races! We went into the little town of Nisswa and took part in their annual 4th of July turtle races. Before the big race, I got a turtle painted on my arm for good luck!
And then it was time to pick our turtles! I named mine Shelly (because turtles have shells)!
I raced one for Teague too!
Another new activity for me was mini golfing. Even though I'm only 2, I am a little bit competitive and independent and was therefore a pretty good golfer! Fore!
One time I hit my ball into the water ... it was fun to watch it float down the stream! But thank goodness Papa got the ball out for me so I could keep playing!
Riding a moose on the course! haha
And finally, as for the actual 4th of July ... we started the celebrations by making white chocolate dipped strawberries with blue sprinkles.
Red, white, and blue!
Mmmmm ... everything about those strawberries (especially the blue sprinkles) was good!
Then we went boating and swimming ... followed up by a little "nudey booty" racing around the yard/beach! Let freedom ring! hahaha
America, America!
And of course, to top off the evening, fireworks from the view of our boat!
Here's Teague awaiting the fireworks ... he ended up really liking them too!
And how cool is this ... on our way home, we saw the most gorgeous moon over the lake ... it was totally round and firey red/orange!
On July 5th, Teague was so tired from all the festivities that he fell asleep on Mommy's chest. Mom was so excited because he hasn't done this since he was a brand newborn ... he's not much of a snuggler. So, Mom took full advantage of her little man sleeping on her!
Happy 4th of July from this "Lake Girl" ...
and this "Bear Bum!"
